Deep Winter, also called Dark Winter, is defined by depth first and coolness second. Very dark brown or black hair, dark eyes, and cool or neutral skin of any depth, with high contrast between them. The coloring is strong enough to carry the deepest, most saturated colors of the twelve palettes.
The palette: emerald, sapphire blue, crimson, royal purple, black and pure white. It is one of the few seasons that wears black well, and black and white together suit it. Charcoal and navy are its other neutrals; silver, white gold, platinum and gunmetal its metals.
The colors that flatter it least are warm and light: peach, camel, butter yellow, salmon, warm beige and moss green. They are too soft and too golden for this coloring and make the skin look yellow.
FAQ
Can a Deep Winter wear black?
Yes. Black is in the Deep Winter palette, and high contrast such as black with pure white suits it. Charcoal and navy work as softer dark neutrals.
Is Deep Winter the same as Dark Winter?
Yes. Twelve-season systems use both names for the winter whose strongest trait is depth, with a cool undertone second. Its neighbor on the warm side is Deep Autumn.
